To sketch exhibitions

I love visiting exhibitions and taking in all the different images, colors and shapes – preferably with an annual ticket, because it’s so nice to visit an exhibition several times and discover new details again and again.

The last few times I have tried to record my impressions in a sketch note after visiting the museum. This has given me the opportunity to let the museum visit sink in and process my impressions – and to practise drawing on my tablet at the same time.

For the exhibitions on “Lacan” and “Elmgreen and Dragset”, I limited myself to tracing individual exhibits that particularly impressed me. For the exhibition on Suzanne Valadon, on the other hand, I tried to incorporate information about the content into the sketch note and give it a clear structure. Of course, this takes more time and is in itself a small project that you have to have time for. In their simple form, however, these museum sketch notes can be done quickly – more like visual diary entries that can record impressions and make them comprehensible. I think I’ll try to keep up this habit. 😊
